Junk Culture

Originally a punk type of band, Junk Culture includes an Andrew Laws, of Best Badges fame. The Birks has followed the band ever since arriving at Suffolk, about a hundred years ago.
Amongst the gigs they have done here and there, was the one at Southampton, where Birks took some photographs, in the year of 1997. Gig photos can be quite difficult, how can you make images of people stood around with guitars look interesting? Well, odd lighting helps, and lots of different viewpoints can provide variety, but it still remains quite challenging. They liked them anyhow.
Below are some photos from a gig at the SteamBoat Tavern in Ipswich, August 2001, to celebrate the release of their first single. Strange lighting and movement feature again, as they wanted some strange photos, something a bit different to every day kind of band photos. Click on each photo to view a bigger version.

Junk Culture has it's own web site, designed and maintained by Andrew Laws, featuring many photos taken by the Birks.
